Definition: voluntary association that has organized for the collective pursuit of interests. Two problems with weber"s definition: very broad two broad to be useful. Criminal vs. victim can be an example of a power relationship within. Weber"s definition: allows for power relationships to be temporary. In sociology we"re interested in permanent power relationships: domination. A lot more useful concept sociology wise. Domination: power relations that involve persistent patterns of social inequality: one dominant group and one subordinate group, subordinate group will subject and obey the commands of the dominant group.
