Social policy is enacted by professionals we come into contact with. Discourses frame our understanding of the world. Discourses of sexuality shape our own understanding of our sexuality. Discourses that only reinforce heterosexuality, then people are denied other truths and other ways of understanding ourselves. Engage in self surveillance in fear of being watched. Surveillance over ime people will engage in their own self surveillance to try to it in and conform. Young mothers under age 25 and by families with 3+ children. Gap in educaional atainments btwn men and women widened. Proporion of people who never married dropped.
