Going back to the beginning (embryotic life) we are connected to everything even before coming into the world. We are not a separate being among other separate beings. Only gradually do we understand that there is something outside of us and then there is us. We like to keep what is inside us things that bring us pleasure, what brings us pain we keep on the outside.
