Genie -> authorities found out that her parents kept her in a room without any contact. Her mother and father were responsible for her isolation. She had trouble to speak, and issues with motor skills. She was an opportunity for researchers to answer questions for nature vs. nurture. to what extent is behaviour innate to us. We do not have a control group of this, what happens to an individual who doesn"t grow up in social groups. Genie presents the question, to what extent is language? . The ways in which individuals learn and recreate skills, knowledge, values, motives, and roles appropriate to their position in a group or society (delamater) Process in which we become functional members and learn what is expected. We also develop a sense of self and identity. Socialization is therefore the means by which social and cultural continuity are attained" (clausen 1989). We see stability and changes in culture over the decades.
