Document Summary
Socpsy 2m03 | multidisciplinary of social psychology | c01 | kathleen steeves. What can make identity work problematic: socialization and topics discussed last week assume that identity work occurs without any problems or internal con icts. There are several things that make authenticity and identity work problematic: 3 main challenges or disruptions to identity work, turning points, stigma, identity dilemmas. Changing statuses: it is normal to change statuses throughout life since we take on new identities, new roles and have different experiences, status passage: a normal transition form one category to the next. A linear passage: status passages consist of liminal phases which is the space between statuses and identities where you are not a part of the next role yet but no longer remain apart of the previous one. Occur during a sense of formlessness: a turning point is a less routine passage such as a crisis or situation that disrupts one"s sense of identity and status passage.
