Defining situations: de nition of the situation" a shared agreement or common understanding regarding what is going on, this allows us to interact with one another effectively in our daily lives since we have similar de nitions for situations. We create social order by coordinating with other people from these shared meanings: there can be disagreement at times especially when situations are unclear and ambiguous. Definition of the situation: backgrounds, experiences, social situations/positions construct the lens in which we view and see situations, events, object or people through. Not everyone"s de nition has equal status which means they cannot always advance. The more privileged groups are able to advance their de nitions and have it implicated into policies. Role play: we tend to classify people so that we know how to interact with them.
