Influenced by dewey: language, makes humans different from animals, use it to think, to reason and coordinate with each other, significant symbol, something that brings for the same meaning/understand to the reciprocant and the person saying it, e. g. Dog : the mind, our brains are sociological and psychological shaped, and allow us to communicate with each other because of this predisposition for language, agency, anti-behaviourist, we can shape and change our environments. They are all people who engage in similar processes. Achieving identity : encountering definitions of self from others; attributing qualities to self; presenting specific definitions to others. Being involved : being recruited by others; accomplishing activities; making commitments; developing relationships. Doing activities : making plans; getting prepared; managing stage fright; coordinating events with others. Unrealistic emphasis on agency: can we really influence our environment that much, meanings/definitions of the situation are not personal or subjective.
