Until you acquire language you"re not really fully socialized (according to mead) Babies can"t differentiate between themselves and other people. Babies learn to respond to their name (important to mead) Start to imaginary play in a few roles, might switch between roles quickly. Anticipatory socialization - the idea that children are acting out roles they may eventually act out in society. Understand how roles are interconnected and what their place might be. The generalized other - taking on the thoughts/perspectives/normas/values of others in society and internalizing them as your own.
