Canadian children speak out (film watched in class: wishes, health. Families: kids care fundamentally about love, care, security, having fun - not material things. The kids came from different backgrounds and had different experiences, which is reflected in their answers. Little need for materialistic stuff, they want security and support from their parents/family/support systems/schools. These kids have a very clear idea of family and what"s going on around them. This video was done by the federal gov"t (bob ray, pass ndp premier of ontario, was the only other person to show interest) Who cares for the children? (p. 47: 1959 un the declaration of the right of the child, 11 principles in all, canadian society has failed canadian children on principles 2, 3, 8, and 10. The right laws are in place, it"s that families are failing to follow them. Full cognitive development is established by age 3 or 4.
