We hurry children because we as adults hurry things. We think pushing them ahead is good for them. Parents in contemporary society; dwell is competing demands in society: We feel under pressured and perhaps not doing things in an ethical way in where we need to go. They"re doing everything and anything in order to self-promote (#1 thing that"s hurrying them) Conspicuous consumer consumption- we want to feel like we belong, instead of the odd man out. For ex. if we buy a house, we ask how many square feet it is. Ladies with brand name bags (lv, couch bags, etc). Becomes something that hurries us, makes us anxiety written and live in fear. Stats canada tells us we are 1-3 pay cheques away from being homeless, not enough money saved up. Transitions: upward and downward- living in canada, we are lucky as we have a safety net for these transitions. How very incapable we are in helping each other.
