Week 7 lecture: rebellion and conformity: response to what we are told is true in our society, what we should do to be normal or successful. Both tied to the response of social understanding of the norms. Conformist takes this understanding and accepts it rebel goes against this understanding. Social truth is the thing that motivates and guides both of them: rebel has a better chance of getting out of this relationship to what has to be real, true, normal, acceptable etc. Positive apathy a genuine lack of caring about what the world says you are and what you are to do more likely to develop with rebellion. Positive apathy no longer tied to social understandings, understand what it is to live your own life, don"t care and don"t notice what the social understanding of what you"re supposed to be.
