Fanon was a black scholar and psychiatrist who move out of martinique, moved to paris, felt extremely discriminated against to point he felt he shouldn"t exist. Instead of being able to have a desire, man are desire of subject, women object. Politics and history : history written by those who have power; those who have power select what stories are told. In a sense, story told in history serves to justify the continuation of those same power positions. Usually colonizers present themselves as chosen people god"s nation . Us conquered north of mexico -> manifest destiny -> predestined right to dominate other people"s land and people. Involves same selective process involved in storytelling of theatre and film. In spite of aspiring towards objectivity, historians can"t record everything that happens, thus must establish a focus. The suggestion of a connection between cinema and actuality is very strong, especially in the imagination of early film-goers.
