Controlled situation in which one person seeks information from another. May be an interaction between two or more people (ex. Verbal and nonverbal interaction (think of a police interview of a suspect) An interaction which is influenced by, for example, culture, personality style, attitudes and goals: exchange of interaction depends on what the interviewee is saying, listen! Learn to listen to yourself half the time we don"t make sense to even ourselves. Slow down: everything in court for example, is slow and boring. Listen to your own voice and speech pattern (rate of speech in particular will be graded: investigators should speak 10% of the time, 90% of the time should be the person speaking. Interviewing we are just collecting information, and then you can move to interrogation, which means you said this and this, is this correct etc. Anything remotely vague (hooks) we pull in on that vagueness.
