Phonological rules: rules for how phonemes can be combined to produce speech sounds; e. g. , ts sounds can be found in german but not in english (there are phonological rules are different for different languages). If something sounds odd we describe it as speaking with an accent. All languages fall into two categories: rules of morphology or rules of syntax.
