ANAT 101 Lecture Notes - Lecture 7: Epicondyle, Flexor Carpi Radialis Muscle, Supinator Muscle
Document Summary
Upper limb muscles: muscles can only pull/shorten, not extend, moves towards insertion, all about moving the scapula around, keep in mind both the anterior and posterior side and keep in mind the functions, shoulder girdle. Serratus anterior inserts deep into the scapula; very important by moving scapula forward. Trapezius comes from axial skeleton and moves scapula; very large, triangle shaped muscle. Rhomboid lifts scapula up: arm (anterior and posterior) Latissimus dorsi super wide origin gets concentrated into a very small insertion; extends and aducts; swimmers. Pectoralis major inserts at the bicipital groove; also powerful extender and adductor. Deltoid very large, rounded muscle; triangular; inserts halfway down the humerus; abduction. Teres major inserts at the bicipital groove; adductor. Teres minor same movement as latissimus dorsi (same insertion and direction, doesn"t matter origin) Coracoid process short head; bicep brachii originates here. Coracobrachialis long head (arches over, but normally looks shorter)
