They do not have a neck or a tubercle: muscles of the abdominal wall, external oblique originates from the ribs downward and forward to insert at the midline at the linea abla. It compresses the abdominal organs, and flexes and rotates the trunk: internal oblique originates from the ribs perpendicular to the external oblique to insert at the linea abla. Same functions: transverse abdominis [innermost] originates from the ribs and is horizontal along the lateral sides of the body. It compresses the abdominal organs & functions in coughing: the rectus abdominis consists of the linea abla.
