ANAT 216 Lecture Notes - Lecture 10: Superior Vena Cava, Left Coronary Artery, Aortic Sinus
Document Summary
When the diaphragm moves, the heart moves with it. The atria are not above the ventricles but behind them. Ra superior vena cava and inferior vena cava. Blood from heart itself enters ra from coronary sinus. Fossa ovale in the ra in interatrial septum. La 4 pulmonary veins (2 right and 2 left) enter from lungs. Septal, anterior and posterior cusps on tricuspid valve of right av. Lv is circular is cross section bc much thicker wall. Aortic and pulmonary valve are dilated and have 3 cusps. Pulmonary trunk passes backwards to left of aorta. Fibrous skeleton maintain structural integrity of heart. Keeps cardiac muscle cells from being abused ie) where valve or vessles are coming and going. Also links the cardiac muscle cells in the circular bundles so when the heart contracts its got that slight twisting motion. Cardiac muscle cells exert on fibrous muscle cells.
