Forms that dev in garden architecture and only later on was implemented in the city. Parterre = flower bed, walled with walls or hedges, usually in a grid pattern and close to the house, represent civilization. Broderie = embroidery, pattern these parterres take on, patterns inspired by fashion, moment paris became the fashion icon. Little woods, further out more wild it gets, this is the wildest part, rows of trees grow, represents wilderness, balance between civilization and wilderness. Negotium is in town you have a big palace where you work. Otium is the villa, countryside place you can relax. Andre le notre (1613-1700) : (cid:862)the eye creates the perspective, the stroll brings it alive(cid:863) Came from a family of gardeners and was well educated in art.
