Cytosol is the central coordination region for metabolic activities in eukaryotes. Catabolism- breakdown of a molecule into smaller components. 3 different protein filaments: microtubules (tubulin)(big)- dynamic instability, organizing center in animals. Intermediate filaments (medium): more stable than microtubules and actin filaments. Analogy: ground is cytoskeletal filament, leg is head, hip is the hinge.
