Document Summary

Lecture #13 feb 2 layers and their interfaces . Difference between layer 1 and layer 2 is obvious. Sometimes a layer looks like a mix between what is above and what is below. There are cases that are even harder: orientation of inclusions. Sometimes the texture and there composition is the same. Layer 2 may have the same orientation, while layer 1"s orientation is in no particular order. Position of inclusions: stones that are all in a line. Looks like they are lying on an invisible surface. That would have been an interface at one point in time. Layers also have interfaces which limit and define them their external surfaces. However, they are not independent from the body of the layer, and for the study of stratigraphy they are considered one and the same with the layers. Left hand side: you have a pile of sand. Right side: a wall is an interface because it has limits.
