Constance ledbelly is the protagonist of the play. She is described as using foolscap paper like a highschooler, wearing a crumpled tweedy suit- everything about her seems out of date. This is an important trait for her as a character. The play takes pla(cid:272)e at quee(cid:374)"s u(cid:374)i(cid:448)e(cid:396)sity- the play puns on the university name later on in the play. He says to o(cid:374)e of the hakespea(cid:396)ea(cid:374) (cid:272)ha(cid:396)a(cid:272)te(cid:396)s (cid:271)ut (cid:271)e(cid:272)ause the s(cid:272)hool had(cid:374)"t (cid:271)ee(cid:374) (cid:271)uilt yet, he thought she (cid:449)as a (cid:395)uee(cid:374), a(cid:374) a(cid:272)ade(cid:373)ia (cid:395)uee(cid:374). Be(cid:272)ause a quee(cid:374) is a figu(cid:396)e of a (cid:449)o(cid:373)a(cid:374)"s empowerment and agency, at one part she refers to herself as a queen of academe. This relates to the theme of identity as we do not know who she really is, so they just refer or know her as a queen.
