Animals involved - cows, chickens, mixed farm perspective of agriculture. Most farms are specialized in producing one or two crops/animals. Trying to grow non gmo corn - for premiums. Grain farms are producing raw ingredients that are produced in all things. Conventional farming can reduce tillage - but dependent on chemicals. Organic farmers can avoid chemicals but dependent on tillage. Both trying to move in same direction of removing __. Farms are getting larger and more specialized, farmers are older, 15 years smaller farms are producing food for local consumers. Hard to quantify that part of the food system - not going away. Weather in fall reflects how crop rotation will work. Rotation maximizes crop growth, and weather risk - not all weather is good for certain crops. Prices are driven by % of crop going to feed, high corn = high wheat, driven by other factors such as: Lag time between seed purchase, planting and harvesting.
