Devs100 - lecture 3 - history of the development enterprise. Development -noun- the act or process of developing, growth, progress. In some ways it is a very old question . Different societies have asked about the meaning of a good life for thousands of years . However in other ways it is a very new question . A post world war ii project aimed at particular notions of development. There are radically different notions of what constitutes development throughout history and today. At one level, development is about objective questions of poverty: income, housing, health, education, etc. but all these criteria can be subjective/challenged. Second leading cause of death in children under 5 years old. 1. 7 billion cases of diarrhea disease every year. The basic object of human development is to enlarge the range of people"s choices to make development more democratic and participatory .
