Panopticon (one person can see everyone, so everyone thinks they could be being watched so they don"t misbehave) Presentism analyzing things from the perspective of the present and projecting it on the past don"t do this. Analyze things in historical context, not in the way we understand things today. Learn the mistakes of the past so that we don"t repeat them in the present ex. Invites us to figure out what we"re interested in in the present (acts as a guide about what we"re interested in) History becomes more than a bunch of dates and facts. They leverage canadian history/heritage to help sell their items (causes customer loyalty) We use a lot of euphanisms for capitalism ex. stockmarket. I am canadian rather than we are canadian doesn"t appeal to various multicultural ppl i. e. chinese, gays, etc.
