Exporting sexuality to the lower orders: from hysterical to hypersexual. Decline in interest in hysterical women, and more of a preoccupation of the hypersexual. Movement of sexuality being used in different ways by those in power. Focus changed to working class women in 19th century, the focus is more on the hypersexual women rather than hysterical. Girls gone wild: 1897 female refuges act and the mercer reformatory. Reformatory: the case file as power/knowledge. Treat case files as a medium of categorization. When you categorize people, you have a form of power: sexual promiscuity/non-conformity. Women"s and family couts: feminized and socialized justice: having too many partners or of the wrong kind, multiple partners was seen as an important issue. Commercial amusements and treating : dance halls. If you were a dance hall frequent, than it did not help your case for a judge. Labels you as promiscuous: pregnancy, birth control, abortion, vd, wartime, and soldier crazy girls.
