Document Summary

Holocaust used to be a taboo subject only since the 70s were classes on the subject offered at schools. Holocaust conscious wasn"t until the last shots of wwii and even then it was a controversial subject. The real debate is not over whether it happened or not, historians tend to ignore holocaust deniers. There are some who say searching for meaning in amongst those left dead is futile and obscene. Who were the victims; jews, romani peoples, pows, Polish people, lgbt, and the disabled all included. Who are we to derive lessons from the agony of other humans. The holocaust term itself shoves meaning onto a senseless crime, the word derives from greek and means burnt offering. It was first used in writing in 1189, in the wake of richard the lionhearted and the crusades. During his coronation a few jews wanted to pay homage to the king but were turned away from the church.
