It didn"t matter what you were, if you were jewish, then that was it, you were marked for death. The was against the jews was about blood, genetics. They were persecuted for their existence, not their beliefs: leader of hassidic jews was called the rebbe. The rebbe was not just like a normal. Rabbi, he is in charge of the whole community, not just spiritual well-being, but economic life as well, sexual life, basically everything. Huge responsibility on rebbe: there was a con ict between the black community and the jewish community in. There is tension between the different groups: matchmaker: shadcham. Beleiving in the shema does not make you jewish automatically. Have to take a test, lessons, not a one night decision: it"s a way of life rather than a belief, 613 commandments. No one could obey all of these commandments: 614th commandment, created by emil f something, don"t let hitler win a posthumous victory .
