Photographer would insert the plate into the apparatus, let image transfer to the plate, shut the shutter and let the image develop from there. If you see a picture of a child and if a child is holding perfectly still, the child is probably dead. Modern society tends to be spectators rather than participants. Society as a spectacle was used against modernity, that we only care about the surface not what"s underneath it. Because a camera has a unique ability to capture the spectacle disasters and war can easily be shared. The basic problem is "spectacle, empathy and numbness".
