Favored a protestant perspective rather than catholic. Wasn"t an official plan to exterminate protestants. Role of women didn"t go in depth. Very little rape hard to justify rape through religious difference: it"s hard to justify murder but it"s harder to justify rape. Lack of organization traditional power structure is gone since the flight of the earls. Some of the protestants and catholics still maintained relationships. Had to be of the same religion to marry. Catholic"s children had to be raised catholic. Divisions between tiers more than just religious division. William of orange: was invited to take the throne was married to james ii"s daughter, shows up with an army, james ii flees to france in 1688. 1689 james ii shows up in ireland with an army. Battle of the boyne: 1690, william of orange comes to ireland and destroys james ii"s army, makes irish very mad every year when they commemorate this battle.
