Protocol-entering/leaving gym: first lesson teach/practice how you want students to move from classroom to the gym. It might even be of benefit to define exactly what walking means. Can learn names and get attendance done quickly: position yourself in front of the students, make sure everyone can hear and see you, practice day 1 what you want, make it routine, an expectation. Protocol-start/stop signals: the type of sig(cid:374)al used does(cid:374)"t (cid:373)atte(cid:396) as long as it is seen or heard. Start/stops need to be practiced: practice helping students listen while playing, keep talking brief to hold attention. Students are not likely to stand quietly waiting with a ball in their hands so you need to give them something to do with the ball: whether retrieving or after stop signal equipment should be: Protocols-for selecting partners/teams: no one likes to be picked last; crushes self-esteem, is demeaning and embarrassing.
