the rules of professional conduct and has
not been disciplined by a Provincial law
society), and must have a strong
contribution to the law as an advocate,
academic, or policy maker.

Organization Of The Canadian Court
System

The Supreme Court of Canada is
Canada's ultimate Court of Appeal.
Supreme Court hears appeals from the
Provincial Courts of Appeal.
The Provincial Courts of Appeal hear
appeals from the Provincial Superior
Court trial level.
Appeals from the Provincial Courts go to
the Superior Court trial level courts.
The Federal Court Trial Division and the
Federal Court of Appeal are both special
statutory courts.
Like the Provincial Courts, they have no
inherent jurisdiction. They hear matters
related to Federal statutes.
The Tax Court is similar except that it
hears tax matters from individual citizens.
The judges in these courts are appointed
by the Federal government.
The Canadian military has its own court,
both at the trial level and the appellate
level. The Military Courts hear charges
against members of the Canadian
military, sometimes called Courts
