We want to know what was going on in the mind of the author. Meaning goes beyond what the author intends, it can be experienced where the author did(cid:374)"t (cid:373)ea(cid:374) it. You might take the text to mean something different than the author intended. Once a text is published and out there, they have an autonomy from the author. Greek word for truth is aletheia: has a lot to do with the as-structure of interpretation, means to reveal something as the thing that it is.
