Ideologies: clusters of values and beliefs that shapes people"s opinions. All men were citizens, not foreigners, slaves- part of making decisions on how to run athens. The term city has come to be used as the basis of how we think about how we live together (monarch or democracy) Man is a political animal extinguishes us as human beigns from any other species- we make decisions about how to live together- other species do it by instinct. Emphasis on institutions: the state, the government, political parties, interest group. Emphasis on power: in its various forms: control, influence, authority, coercion (robert dhal) feeling controlled by the environment around us. Emphasis on distribution of resources or of values: who gets what, when, and how or allocation of values . Who gets to decide what the direction of our society is. Emphasis on process of conciliation- groups get the influence equalivent to their importance- bernard crick.
