What do lawyers do in society: politicians only 5 out of the 28 prime ministers since confederation were not lawyers, policy makers, private practise, in house council, academics. Rule of law: the law, must be applied fairly to all, must be created fairly, overarching principle in democratic nationsnot a law itself. Implementation needs constant viligence to make sure the rule of law is uphelp. Bill c-51: purpose of bill is to stop terrorism, sounds positive, but the canadain bar association objects to the bill, bill is too broad, criminalize legitimate freedoms, offends the charter.
