Value free knowledge about the world; we would emulate the methodologies of applied sciences. A good theory in ir must describe the world as it is . This field, particularly the lenses that emerge (realism, idealism) were designed to preserve the status quo and capture the world as it is. Not interested in answering questions like, how did the world come to be this way . Anti to what feminism is all about: feminism has different definitions in different areas of academia. Feminism comes to us not as an academic discourse but as a social movement. Women were a non-issue in the field of ir during this time. In the 1960s, the women"s movement was a real driving source for change: feminism didn"t appear in an ir journal until 1978.
