Neuroscience is the scienti c study of the nervous system. Not the study of the behaviour; impacts behaviour. Different branches of neuroscience; cognitive, social, etc. Chicken with head cut off; shows behaviours of a chicken even with out the brain. Farmer cut off head of chicken with hot axe, cauterized the wound and chicken was fed through neck; lived for 18 months and exhibited chicken behaviour. Central nervous system: brain & spinal cord. When your arm falls asleep , the connection between brain and hand are just cut off; you can still move it but can"t feel anything. 3 nerves in hand: super cial branch of radial, ulnar, and median nerve. Phantom limb syndrome: limb amputated and person feels like their limbs are twisted (due to nerves) Efferent (motor) sends info from brain to body (information expressed) Afferent (sensory) sends info from nerves to cns (information accepted) Sympathetic (stress); raises bp, pupils expand ( ght or ight)
