Week 6 - social development - what factors influence who we become. Parents vary a lot on two main factors. Responsiveness being warm, loving, talking to your cards. Authoritative (good), high demandingness and high responsiveness. Best/most efficient style communicate very clear limits and explains why slowly removes limits and allow child to take their own life into their hands, aka internal control. Authoritarian (bad), high demandingness and low responsiveness. My way or the highway type parents. Also communicates limits but not as warm as authoritative. Not warm as in demandingness follows with threats and punishments. Acts good" at home but tends to act out a lot outside of the home. Boys become very aggressive whereas girls become very anxious an withdrawn. Permissive parenting low demandingness and high responsiveness. Warm and loving but does not regulate themselves due to having no limits placed on them. Rejecting-neglecting/disengaged low demandingness and low responsiveness. Ignores the children and give them little to no limits.
