Intelligence Testing
Measuring Intelligence
• Different approaches to intelligence testing

▪ Anthropometrics referred to the methods of measuring physical
and mental variation in humans
o Intelligence & thinking: the Stanford-Binet test
▪ They define intelligence as the ability to think, understand, reason,
and adapt to or overcome obstacles
▪ Stanford-Binet test: a test intended to measure innate levels of
intelligence
▪ Intelligence I: y
age, and then multiplying it by 100
o Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale
▪ Remains the most common intelligence test in use today for
adolescents and adults
▪ Provides a single IQ score for each test taker but also breaks
intelligence into a General Ability Index and a Cognitive Proficiency
