Document Summary
Nativism: the philosophical view that we are born with knowledge already present. Empiricism: the philosophical view that we obtain all knowledge through observable facts and experiences (possible origins of behaviour) Genes: small units of dna that direct the synthesis of proteins and enzymes and result in the expression of inheritable traits. Genes affect the environment and the environment affects genes expressions, interactions at every level. Almost all behaviour results from nature or nurture. Behaviour genetics: the study of genetic influences on behaviour. Sexual reproduction: genetic material of male and female combined (sperm and egg), genetic material is organized into chromosomes and are stored in the nucleus. Dna (deoxyribonucleic acid): the genetic material of all organisms that make up a chromosome; resembles a twisted ladder, strands of sugar and phosphate connected by rungs made from nucleotide molecules (adenine, thymine, guanine, cytosine)
