Is anticipation rational or irrational: expressed as subjective unease, worried thoughts and behaviours, physiological responses, have to inquire if drugs/alcohol is involved. Fear: immediate alarm reaction to dangerous or life-threatening situations: present-oriented mood state, characterized by strong avoidance and activation of the sympathetic ns, evidence: fear differs psychologically/biologically from anxiety, promotes anxiety, but is different. Panic: abrupt intense fear or discomfort accompanied by physical symptoms: heart palpitations, chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness. Panic attacks: situationally bound (cued): panic attack is expected in a given situation and is bound to some situations and not others. Common for phobias (incl social phobia: unexpected (un-cued): panic attack is completely unanticipated in nature, and often occurs without warning.
