Paraphilias: unusual sexual attractions to inappropriate people such as children or objects. Often have more than one paraphilic pattern. Often comorbid with mood, anxiety, or substance abuse disorders. Only considered a disorder if associated with distress and impairment, harm or threat of harm to others: people (cid:449)ith this disorder ofte(cid:374) do(cid:374)"t (cid:272)o(cid:374)sider it (cid:449)ro(cid:374)g. Rare in women but 5-10% of sexual offenders are women. Frotteuristic disorder: occurs in a large city, typically crowded subway or bus: males rub up against women until stimulated to ejaculation. Voyeurism: observing an unsuspecting individual undressing or naked in order to become aroused. Exhibitionism: sexual arousal and gratification by exposing genitals to unsuspecting strangers: thrill from the risk. Transvestic fetishism: sexual arousal associated with the act of dressing in clothes of the opposite sex, or cross-dressing. Sexual sadism: associated with inflicting pain or humiliation: sadistic rape: most rapists do not fit into profile of paraphilia but those who dare described as sadists.
