Neuroanatomical tracing techniques: anterograde (forward)- tracing to where axons project away from an area, finds where information goes to, retrograde (backward)- tracing from where axons are projecting into an area, finds where information is coming from. Directions: proximal- near, distal- far, anatomical directions ignore that humans walk upright.
