Intimacy i. e. for what in your life do you feel most grateful: small talk i. e. what was your summer job last year, hypothesis: intimacy version would generate more closeness than small-talk version. Ios does good job at correlating with other aspects like relationship satisfaction: no significant differences between groups but generally followed expected trend of intimacy means being higher than small-talk. You feel cold : statement: i"m cold, aren"t you? . In this study, marital satisfaction and decoding abilities were unrelated dissatisfaction, communication is more of a consequence than a cause. If told about empathy abilities, females better than males but if told about cognitive abilities or nothing, no gender differences. Myths about conflict: conflict can always be avoided, conflicts always occur because of misunderstandings and is usually unnecessary, conflict is a sign of a poor relationship, less important whether conflicts occur (which is normal) but how it"s handled.
