Gazelle stotting: they will do a jumping behaviour to stand out in the herd. Chimpanzee pant-hoots: they have a quite a few and humans can get an idea of what they are saying or the emotion behind it. Skunk fur patterns: not at overt as a call of action, sometimes it"s a coloration- the fur is indicative that we want to avoid them. Elements that aren"t communicative systems- teaching apes language and communication that is not actual communication but rather conditioning and associations. Signals- dog bark (bearing of the teeth) Receiver- mail carrier aposematism- the coloration can be indicative of toxicity. Non overt behaviour- poison dart frog: signals: red skin, sender: rain forest frog, receiver: potential predators. 2 influencing behaviour: one animal provides the stimulus for partner"s response (behvaiour) influence another"s understanding.
