Society is a collection of people organized in a mutual benefit association. People in the society will sharea a set of values and recognize their dependence on each other for the survival of the society. Required for the survival and continuity of the society. They look at behaviours that if they contribute to society that they are good things: they will be encouraged and rewarded. Other behaviours may not contribute anything to the society: feelings towards it will be ambiguis, sometimes may discourage the behaviours. Other behaviours could potentially damage the society or lead to the distruction of the society: these will be discouraged and discredited, punish or prohibit that behaviour. Deviance is something that most of the members of the group see as bad-something that does not contribute to the goals of the group also recognizes that deviance can have a positive function! Deviance as normal ( durkheim ) looked at similar societies.
