SOCY 275 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Social Science, Zoophilia
Document Summary
We are going to look at a behaviour, we are going to see if a lot of people do it or if a minority of people do it. The idea here is that if a minority of people are doing i then it is probably wrong. If everybody is doing it then it won"t really be violating any kind of standard therefore not wrong. There are also things that people don"t do very much but we don"t necessarily think that is wrong . Also, on the opposite side, there are also things that a lot of people do that people think are wrong (e. g. speeding, cheating taxes, adultery, etc. ) Generally, it is something that is socially disapproved by people. Missing: evaluation of the judgement of the deviant behaviour. Social scientist is going to set the standards of what is going to be deviant or not (decide what is good and bad)
