The shift from pre modern to romantic to pure love. Romantic love is generally seen as fated commitment towards a true love, pure relationships are based on the idea of choice not fate. The late modern context of an increase in life choices in the context of globalization and contemporary consumer culture. Contraception, divorce, and cohabitation, equal rights etc. Portable person hood - careers and lives are on the move, multiplication of possibilities for relationships outside of neighbourhood. Match making is not new to a digital age.
