Post fordism and informational capitalism- frameworks for understanding the 21st century. System of mass election pioneered in early 20th century by ford motor company. Typical post war mode of economic growth and it"s associated political and social order in advanced capitalism. Now technologies changed the nature of industrial world. Henry ford- eliminating human labour or completing controlling it with technology. Work is more efficient if the work comes to the worker, not worker going to the work. Wrk was more expensive when each worker had to craft the labour and the object. High turn over rate, too much for workers to handle. Didn"t change the nature of the work, just paid people more so they would want to stay. Tight discipline and strict authority were essential in production. Technological determinism- belief that technology acts as an independant source of social change and resultant economic structures.
