Outline: key problems, foundations of feminist criminology, principal areas of inquiry, applications & social policy. Feminist theories say opportunity theory, learning theory, don"t do enough we need a new theory. Focus on women/girls who have not been researched. Very male centered sampled with male offenders/adolescents and typically didn"t include women in sampling because they are less than. Young males (17-24) are most likely to be victimized and risk of victimization not women or elders. Criminologists said that sexual assault/domestic violence were less frequent than other crimes. Women is not an interest (shouldn"t be overlooked) Sample women in the study while keeping the same theory (assuming women are like men) Perspective is androcentric (focus on male experience why male join gangs / what are their motivations motivations may differ b/w gender) Doesn"t think of women/girls as a variable being added. Core idea of gender is a social organizing concept not just biology but socially constructed.
