Liberals (irving kristol and paul wolfowitz) taken on leo strauss"s political thinking. Group of followers became known as neoconservatives. Wanted to unite people by giving them a shared purpose. Wanted to recreate middle-america by fighting against evil in the world. Felt it would give new meaning to people"s lives.
